Fireworks in the city

Because Lincoln Memorial is my absolute favorite memorial, and my good friend Cheryl's brother (who is FBI, and has worked in DC for years) told us it has the best view of the fireworks....we went two hours (yes AGAIN!) early to get us a good seat for the show.  This is how many people were there two hours early.  The Memorial was already full, so we got us a great seat at the base of the stairs.  We took turns grabbing food and hitting the bathrooms before the show, and it didn't take long before there were thousands and thousands of people surrounding us.
This picture was taken on our walk to the Lincoln Memorial.  This is right next to the Washington Memorial.
Our view from the Lincoln Memorial.

The fireworks were amazing.  Sadly, my iphone had died a few hours earlier, and the batteries in my camera were nearly dead....there fore my pictures didn't turn out as good...and after 3 pictures,  my camera died.  The vibe, music, and fireworks were amazing.  I was completely amazed by how happy and polite the crowd was.  Everyone flowed together, no pushing and shoving, and everyone was just so happy to be in our nations capitol on the 4th.  There was singing, and happy chanting, and great music and food.  It was probably a once in a lifetime deal for us...and I'm glad my kids got to experience it.
My niece and nephews on the 4th celebrating 1800 miles away.  My mom sent me this picture...and of course it melted my heart.  I miss these little guys so much, and can't wait to see them in a month.
