I took the kids ice skating for the first time yesterday. I could not believe how well they did. They were naturals. I got these little ice scooters to help them...and they just motored right along. They laughed and squealed, and much to my delight, announced they want to start taking lessons. January starts a new session. After Kaleb learns to skate well...he can start taking hockey lessons, and eventually get on the pee wee hockey league.

It was my first time ice skating too. I cautiously stepped out on the ice, and my first thought was....Oh hell no. I mean who takes their kids ice skating for the first time when they have never been ice skating themselves. Well...apparently I do. After making a very cautious circuit around the rink, I realized it wasn't so hard. We rollerskate all the time, and though the feel of it is much different, it is pretty much the same concept. After a few times around I was cruising. I wouldn't go as far as say I was a pro, but I never fell once, and skated rather smoothly. I even caught my friend Cheryl from falling a few times. Or better yet...she almost went down twice, and grabbed on to me. I managed to keep us both up...and we giggled like school kids. I thought for sure Les was going to be receiving a phone call that they had to take me to the ER.

Kaleb motoring right along. This little guy was so fast. He could lap me and Cheryl.

Our babysitter and her friend Nicole came up to help me with the kids. When Marissa heard I had never been...she met us there to help out. We are so blessed with Marissa. She is a godsend to me. My kids adore her...and so do I. Plus...she is AMAZING at ice skating.

I just love this picture. They were so dang cute. They announced that the couldn't wait to take their daddy. I am just dying to get him out on the ice.
