1). A few weeks ago Kaleb came out of my bedroom with a pencil, held it out, and said, "here you go mom, I'm all done with it...I left you a love note." I asked him, "Kaleb, what did you write on?" He just smiled and said, "you'll see." Les, at the time was getting ready to leave for work, and I got caught up in the moment of seeing him out the door. Later that day, I went to the bathroom in our master bath, and as I reached over to grab some toilet paper....right there in big block letters was KALEB with a heart. I had to giggle. My son had written me a love note right there on the toilet paper roll. Not exactly ideal, but definitely special. It warmed my heart. When I asked him about it, he said he was thinking of me, and wanted me to know that he loved me. I will cherish this moment. Whenever I think of it...it always brings a smile. My son....leaving me a love note on the toilet paper roll.
2). I had made dinner one night. Pork chops, broccoli, rice, and rolls. As Ava was eating dinner...she closed her eyes and said, "Mom...this has got to be the best butter I have ever tasted. You are the best cook and mom I could ever ask for". I smiled and said "Thank you Ava". Then she said...."No, mom, I'm serious. Nobody makes better butter than you." I am probably not the best mom, because my response was, "Thank you Ava, that is so sweet. I try." I did not tell her that it was I can't believe it is not butter. That I, n fact had not made it. My kids think Les and I are just the bees knees. And quite frankly I would like to hang on to that for a little longer. I know there will be a time when they are in their teens, and they think we are just ruining their lives. As I said...I truly feel blessed.
