Biscochitos

Ava's school is learning about Christmas traditions around the world. When it came time for Mexico's Christmas tradition, she informed her teacher that her mom's family is Mexican, and every Christmas we make tamales, and her great grandma use to make the best cookies for her daddy every Christmas. I received an e-mail from Ava's teacher asking if we would share some of our Christmas traditions. I did not send any tamales to school, as they tend to be spicy, but I agreed to make my grandmother's famous Biscochitos. They are a delightful treat, though they are an acquired taste. They were one of the things Les just loved about my grandma. She use to make sure he had his very own batch. My cookies weren't near as good as grandma's, but they were very good, which I am surprised, as it was my first time making them. (My aunt and uncle have taken over the tradition of making them now that my grandma has passed.)
